What does the state regulate?

  • Environmental Aspects of Confined Feeding and Satellite Manure Storage

    Governed by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) under the applicable CFO and CAFO rules.

  • Fertilizer Storage and Application

    Environmental aspects for both commercial fertilizers & animal feeding operations not regulated by IDEM are overseen by the Office of the Indiana State Chemist.

  • Disposal of Dead Animals and Livestock Care

    The Board of Animal Health (BOAH) regulates methods for disposal of dead animals & standards for the care of livestock & poultry.

What do counties regulate? Everything else.
